It all started back when Alejandra Forlan was just twelve years old. She was in a terrible car accident that claimed the life of her boyfriend. Sadly, the accident rendered her paralyzed, and only able to achieve mobility with the help of a wheelchair. But the cost of the related medical procedures would become crippling in its own right.
At the time, the family had virtually no way of footing the bill, which was nearly $250,000. Luckily, Forlan’s mother met former 80s soccer star Diego Maradona, who was gracious enough to help.
