Bilodeau defeated  the defending Olympic champion and push Australian Dale Begg-Smith to the silver.

United Statesskier Bryon Wilson captured the bronze medal, just ahead of other Pierre-Alexandre Rousseau and CanadiansVincent Marquis.

“I don’t believe I realize what is going on today and what’s happening to me right now,” Alexandre Bilodeau said a few minutes after winning gold in the men’s mogul competition.

“Canada is so strong right now,” Bilodeau said. “I’ll be in the stands cheering them on. I’ll have to try to keep a bit of my voice for them.”

He and his fellow Wilson were in the finals who dared try a backflip with two twists on the top jump.

“A year ago,” Wilson said, “I would’ve been just happy to make the Olympics. That was my first goal.

“When I got down to the bottom, I saw the score. I hoped it would hold out, and it did. And it was pretty amazing.”
