Ahmedabad: Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Mr. Dependable Rahul Dravid, and Yuvraj Singh put India on top in the first test match against Sri Lanka in Ahmedabad. India are 385/6, with Harbhajan Singh and Rahul Dravid remained unbeaten at the crease. Dhoni and Dravid hit centuries. Rahul Dravid is unbeaten at 177 runs, hitting his 27thtest century.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. But Indian top order failed to the Sri Lankan bowling attack. India were 32/4 in 7.4 overs, as Laxman, Sachin, Gambhir, and Sehwag departed early. Yuvraj and Dravid added 125 runs for the fifth wicket. Yuvraj made 68.
After Yuvraj’s departure, Dhoni and Dravid played superbly and added 224 runs for the sixth wicket. Dhoni scored 110 off 159 balls. Dhoni completed 2,000 runs in test cricket with his second test century.

Dravid remained unbeaten on 17,.he became the fifth batsman in test history to complete 11,000 runs. For Sri Lanka, D Prasad took 2 wickets while Welegedara took 3 wickets.
