HAMPTON BEACH, N.H.- A fierce blaze that started in a New Hampshire hotel spread by nearly hurricane force gales to nearby buildings Friday and destroyed many businesses. No reports of any injuries so far.
Situated along the Atlantic coast, Surf Hotel is amid a heavily populated area of Hampton.
The fire began at the Surf Hotel in Hampton Beach just before 12:01 a.m. and spread quickly after winds clocked at 60 mph blew off the roof of the building, as reports from WMUR-TV.
The fire rapidly spread in the wood-framed buildings which incorporated a games arcade, apartments, gift shop, Fortunately most of the businesses along the area are open only in the summer and the buildings were empty at the time of fire.
