House Passes Cash for Caulkers Bill -The ‘Cash for Caulkers’ Bill or Home Star Energy Retrofit Act Bill has been approved by House on Thursday. The amount approved $6 Billion for homeowners, the new bill provide thousands of dollars in Cash for Caulkers rebates for renovating their homes with better insulation and energy-saving windows and doors.

246 members voted in favor of bill while 161 members voted against it. $5.7 billion will be used in two years to benefits of invigorating the slumping construction industry and making the earth a little cleaner.

Gold Star program would entitle people to up to $8,000 when they conduct comprehensive energy audits and implement measures that reduce energy use throughout their homes by more than 20 percent while The Silver Star program provides up-front rebates of up to $3,000 for specific energy- efficient improvements in homes, such as installing energy-efficient appliances or duct sealing, insulation or new windows or doors.
