Investigation has been launched by Nottinghamshire Police after TV and radio broadcaster Ray Gosling’s confession aired on the BBC East Midlands programme Inside Out that he smothered his lover in hospital who was dying of Aids.

The Police spokesperson said that officers would be liaising with the BBC and they are unaware of Mr Gosling’s confession until the BBC Inside Out programme was aired.

But The BBC said it was under no obligation to report to police ahead of broadcast but would co-operate with the inquiry.

Groups which are against this types of assisted suicide criticised the BBC and says it was highly irresponsible act not to inform police.
