In a major blow to Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat with the Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the 2005  Soharabuddin Sheikh Encounter. A bench of Justices Aftab Alam and Tarun Chatterjee accepted the demand for CBI probe into the case.

Sohrabuddin Sheikh’s brother alleged that Sohrabuddin was killed in a fake encounter by Gujarat Police and demanded CBI probe into the case.

Earlier Gujrat government refused to conduct CBI inquiry into the matter.
